Fiber Porn!

Turn away if you have no interest in needle felting. Its a potentialy addictive craft. You stab fibers aimlessly with a needle. A very calming medative action... when its icepics Id like to drive through peoples heads...ehem. At the end of it you can have a nice critter body, a hat or cloak.

Got this wonderful package of felting fibers in the mail. All wrapped in blue sparkly tissue paper and a sweet little tag from the seller.

It's "blue storm" milk fiber. A varigrated bluish grey and it does look just like clouds. My idea was to use this for Arinhrods sleeves. Long medieval pendulum sleeves with tattered whispy edges.

The texture is very similar to silk tussah and it it a bit less glinty. it felts up lovely, soft and very lightweight.
Also was included a free sample of curly golden honey mohair?locks. Im happy for a while.

  3. Nita, the tones in the blue are beautiful! I have never felted and I know it is something I am going to try soon, as I've become more and more impressed seeing the results that one can get. I also have a deep yearning to get my hands into something other than clay for a bit.

    Happy wishes to you girl!

  5. If yo guys wanna try felting even a little bit go for it! It will be a relaxing break from clay perfectionism. You can felt while watching tv and its simple and affordable. As soon as I can Im gonna make a hat for myself. You can add media to it whihc really impresses me. Mix fibers adn found objects liek beads or a bone and Ive seen amazing peices made with it including threads and angelian fibers.
A scrap can be used to back a collage, maybe a cosy felted nest for a figure to cuddle up in ,hats, booties, scarves animals, clothing, cusions like for on a settee or humock in greens with flowers for an elf to plunk down on.
The colors are seductive too since my dolls tend to have very subdued color in a limited range. With fibers I can play with mixing color fearlessly and maybe learn to integrate into my work without too much pain.
