Mistwalker WIP

Im in the middle of dressing this piece ,but Im so proud of her so, far I had to share.
I'm sticking with a very classical style for her.Even her face is like a prim Victorian woman. Her head is about an inch in size and her eyes are like a sunlit misty day over clear waters. I used a slightly darker shade of aqua for the pupil instead of black. I want a wispy, light look for this piece. She will have a whiff of pastel blush and not much more paint than that.

The wire laurel she holds is because Ive fallen hard for the beautiful metallic lace jewelry of Edera!

I cant hope to get the same look on such a tiny scale, but I wish with all my heart I could dress an entire figure in a gown of spider web silver, teensy baroque pearls and moonstone! Since the economy has dampened my supply splurges Ive begun to looooong for decadent luxury in my work even more as if this ole real life stuff cannot touch my fairy realms!
I think I will save up for something extra special where it will make a super impact.

  1. Wow she is stunning, I love your work!! Can't wait to see more pictures of her!

  2. Oh my gosh, Nita! I'm so honored that my jewelry has inspired one of your exquisite dolls :) I can't wait to see what lovely clothing you come up with for her--she is looking beautiful so far!

  3. Nita she is so ethereal looking, which is something I have always loved in a piece and have never been able to achieve. I like that you are not going to add a lot of colour to her - her name suits her!

Do you make your own eyes? They are excellent!

  4. She looks absolutely amazing!!! (insert jealousy here)

  5. Long admired your work---is there anyplace online to go and see what you have available for sale???

  6. Thank you everbody, especially to Edera. If you only knew the emotions I cant put into words looking at your work! I cant ever do the same! But remember I said I wanted to fake a lace look for an Ophelia doll? Im still thinking of that if I can manage spider web lace beaded with poppy seeds!
Yup I made my own eyes they are the size of a seasame seed.
Cate I have an etsy page, but, I often sell before I list and I take only one commission at a time. Note me at to get me quick or facebook.

  7. Her handmade eyes are to die for!

    Hauntingly beautiful as always!!!!!!!!!!!

Her pose (like with all you dolls) is so... I don't know the word in english :(... but what I am trying to say is they are living breathing creatures... not dolls!

I mean even these crude wip pics of this bald, naked, raw with wires sticking out little woman ;), portray a living creature to me. There is more emotion in her face than most "real" people can ever convey through their moving features...

At times... I feel like your dolls are true little "fairy" like beings.... whispering their way around your studio.......

p.s. Can't wait to see this one finished!!
